Dr. Okuma is a thoracic oncologist at the National Cancer Center Hospital in Tokyo, Japan. He graduated from the Faculty of Environment and Information Studies, Keio University in 2001 (Bioinformatics) and Tokai University School of Medicine in 2005. He completed his residency program in Internal Medicine, Respiratory Medicine, and Thoracic Oncology from 2005-2010 at the Department of Thoracic Oncology and Respiratory Medicine, Tokyo Metropolitan Cancer and Infectious disease Center Komagome Hospital. He has been working for Komagome Hospital as a staff physician from 2010 to 2019. He is responsible for a group delegate member of the Japan Clinical Oncology Group (JCOG) Lung Cancer Study Group (2016-present), a medical reviewer of the JCOG Protocol Review Committee (PRC) (2015-2017), and a member of JCOG PRC (2019-). He is also a committed guideline member of Radiotherapy & Multidisciplinary Treatment of Guideline Control Committee (2019-present) and Thymic Malignancies (2018-present) of the Japan Lung Cancer Society and Councilor, Steering Committee of International Thymic Malignancies Interest Group (ITMIG) (2021-present). His main research interests are clinical trials, precision oncology, and translational research in thoracic oncology. He is also a member of Section of Liaison for Cancer Genomic Medicine Hospitals, Center for Cancer Genomic and Advanced Therapeutics (C-CAT), National Cancer Center and Japan Health Research Promotion Bureau (JH).
